Reno Nevada

The Biggest Little City in the World!

As fast as Reno is growing that nickname might soon have to be changed. Northern Nevada is becoming increasingly popular and Reno is leading the way.

Gaming is the Main Draw

But there is a lot more to Reno and the northern Nevada area than blackjack and slot machines!

With golf, skiing, and a host of scenic and historic attractions, it is no wonder that Reno attracts more than 5 million visitors a year.

Not only popular for vacations, Reno is one of the fastest growing cities anywhere.  Home prices have gone up considerably in the last couple of years, but remain reasonable, especially in outlying areas like Fernley, Dayton and others.

If retirement is in your near future, consider Reno and northern Nevada as a possible choice.  With a relatively mild climate, but four distinct seasons, there is something for everyone here.

The Birth of Blue Jeans

You may not have known this, but those jeans you are wearing were first made right here in Reno Nevada.  Jacob Davis, with material normally used for making tents (white cotton canvas, called number seven duck), made the pants at the request of a local woman.  She wanted more durable, longer lasting pants for her husband than what was available at the general store.

The pants, as you know now, were a huge success, although the fabric originally used was soon changed to a blue cotton-twill that became known as denim.  Jacob Davis went into partnership with his fabric supplier, Levi Strauss, moved to San Francisco in 1873 and later sold his interest in the company.  Levis have been hugely popular ever since.
